1. there is amazing/crazy wildlife under the sea out here. it is no surprise that Okinawa is one of the top dive spots in the world.
2. the Churaumi Aquarium is the best we've EVER been to. it really is a must if you come visit!
3. we are now more excited than ever to get scuba certified :)

{second deadlist shark: the bull. and they caught him & his friends here. great.}
{sea cucumbers. when they're not multiplied everywhere & freaking me out, they're awesome.}
{Cam: "let me in! please let me come hang out with you! i love you so much! you're my favorite animal ever and i am totally nuts and hope to see you every time we're in the ocean. even when we're out kayaking in the middle of nowhere i hope you'll show up. i don't have a death wish, i just think you are the coolest thing in the world. after my amazing wife of course. sigh. love you, shark."}
{made us immediately think back to swimming with about 25 reef sharks bigger than this guy in the south pacific & loving every second of it!}

ps.
my heart is nearly bursting...
we were at our favorite yakatori restaurant tonight and Kuniko-san (the wife) usually gives us tangerines from her yard for dessert. this time she surprised us w/ tangerines & her homemade cake! she's adorable & reminds us sooo much of you, Mom. she's your Okinawan counterpart. i gave her a big hug before leaving & her and her husband (the head cook extraordinaire) walked us out and waved goodbye beaming as we drove away on our scooter, saying "have good day!" (it was night & pitch black)
haaa! we love them!

ReplyDeleteSharks are pretty awesome, but meeting one in the wild..no thanks. haha
I think all men find sharks to be the coolest thing ...not to mention the fact that they seem to be unafraid of them....I am NOT this way...they terrify me! Beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteSea creatures are so creepy yet so fascinating. I'm dying to get scuba certified!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, thanks for sharing!
Love the pictures, Amanda! SO glad you have sweet neighbors that give you homemade cake. I'm sorta jealous haha. :)
ReplyDeleteHey girl, so glad I found your blog! My boyfriend graduated from the Academy in 2010 as well, and we're currently living together throughout flight school. He's contemplating Guam as our next station, so your pictures have definitely made me more excited for the South Pacific. What is your husband's job exactly? What do you do employment-wise (or are you putting that on hold)? Getting a job in Guam is one of my primary concerns. Have a great week!
