Love for Old Maps

We have such a love for old maps. So far we’ve collected ones from Europe, Japan, and Okinawa to frame.
Cam being the amazing builder he is, had the great idea to just make our own.
So… we took a frame making class at the wood shop on base and it turned out to be really fun {Cam learned how to build the framing and I how to mat, cut glass + put it all together}.
It took us a couple of hours on two Saturdays and saved us a ton of money. By building them ourselves, we paid about $30/frame for the materials, saving what would have cost $600 on custom-framing! Hooray!
If you’ve ever thought about building your own or taking a class on framing, I definitely recommend it. We love these even more knowing that we made them together.
happy Tuesday!

This is such a great idea, to make your own frames. And they look lovely hanging on the wall! My boyfriend loves projects like this. I will definitely suggest making our own the next time we are in need of a frame.
