We have such a love for old maps. So far we've collected ones from Europe, Japan, and Okinawa to frame.
Cam being the amazing builder he is, had the great idea to just make our own.
So - we took a frame making class at the wood shop on base.
It was actually a lot of fun {Cam learned how to build the framing and I how to mat, cut glass + put it all together}.
It took us a couple of hours on two or three Saturdays and saved us a lottt of money.
By doing it ourselves we paid about $30/frame for the materials, saving what would have cost $600 on custom-framing! Woo.
If you've ever thought about building your own or taking a class on framing, I definitely recommend it.

We love these even more knowing that we made them together.

This is such a great idea, to make your own frames. And they look lovely hanging on the wall! My boyfriend loves projects like this. I will definitely suggest making our own the next time we are in need of a frame.
