Where We Hung Our Hats in Christchurch, New Zealand

We spent the last day and night of our glorious trip in Christchurch. We had big plans to explore the city, but were so tired at this point that when we arrived at the peaceful, beautiful Lilac Rose B&B, suddenly all we wanted to do was relax, read {loved that window seat!}, play with their puppy, and drink our welcome tea outside in their beautiful garden until we walked downtown to have dinner together.

I was still working at Fox News when we covered the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, and after seeing it in person – the damage is nearly as terrible and extensive today. But it somehow doesn’t take away from what a lovely city it is and one definitely worth visiting. And! You have to stay at the Lilac Rose B&B! I was dying over their rose and flower gardens, heated bathroom floors, organic local bath products, comfy robes, wrap-around porch, the softest down comforter bed that we slept like babies in, french doors, homemade tea, and beautiful home & hospitality.

Cutie on the porch!

This B&B is adorable! I studied abroad in Auckland a few years ago and fell in love with New Zealand, especially the south island. It is gorgeous! Hope you had a good time!

This B&B looks absolutely lovely and the gardens are wonderful! I love staying at B&Bs… there's usually something so homey and comforting about them that make them so much more comfortable than hotels.
