A Sea of Irises

100Yen per bunch!  {$1} … so I bought 5 (:

Kijoka Falls
The Southern half of Okinawa is built up with a dense population. But the Northern half is completely different. Smaller towns and villages, expanse of dense jungle and rugged, breathtaking beaches, waterfalls galore… there is always somewhere new to explore. Up North is also where the Iris Festival is going on. Okinawa loves it’s flower festivals and I love Oki for it! Those gorgeous waterfalls are right next to the iris fields in quiet Ogimi Village where the oldest people in Japan live. We’ve heard the village has the most centenarians in the whole world. They even have a stone inscription that says, “at age 80, we are a child.” !
{our home is now covered in vases of irises (: }

    WOW! I really love your pictures! Just a question who usually takes pictures of you? I mean on the pictures of you and cam and I was asking myself do you ask someone to take them? or do you put a self-timer? Did you invest in a a tripod? Sorry for all those questions… And like always: I love your blog!!

    Anon,
    Thanks!! My friend Ashley took that photo of me. For the ones of me and Cam I usually ask someone nearby to snap one for us (easy to do in Japan since EVERYONE is always taking photos!) or else I'll set my camera on a flat surface – if there is one where we are – and set the timer.
