We have been celebrating our beautiful boy all weekend. Uncle Matty came up from Santa Barbara and Grandma Emina is flying out later this week, so we’ll just keep on celebrating! Born one year ago today at 4:41am local time in Okinawa, the majority of his little life has been spent on the East China Sea and hearing konnichiwa and kawaii as often as he heard hello and cute. What an extraordinary first year it has been, and the fastest one we have ever known. We are so unbelievably thankful to get to be this little man’s parents. Happiest birthday, little lion lamb!! We love you forever!

Hi Carmen! I made him a vanilla cake (from the box since I knew he'd throw most of it anyways!) and fresh whip cream for the frosting (1 carton heavy whipping cream, 1 tbs vanilla extract, whip until stiff peaks form)… the ground really enjoyed it 😉
