Life Monterey

Big Sur

I hope you had a good weekend! One of the things we did was drive the gorgeous stretch of coastline down to Big Sur.  It’s only about a 45 minute drive away, winding along the cliffside with stunning views of the Pacific. Every bend has cars pulled over with people taking photos, picnicking or just admiring the view.

We hiked the Ewoldsen Trail, which I would recommend if you’re ever in the area — it has beautiful vistas overlooking the ocean, groves of ancient redwoods, an ethereal feel to it and was a good workout. Near this pretty spot is also where we took in gouda & apple slices, bread, water and those delicious peanut butter cups from Trader Joe’s I’d made darn sure to pack.

I could not stop laughing. John Shea chit-chatted the entire way up, and then passed out like this for the whole way down. It cracks us up seeing the positions that he can sleep in and hearing him deep-sleep snore. I also love that Cam hiked the whole day with his sippy cup!

Big Sur is so beautiful! We drove through earlier last year on our way back from camping near Morro Bay, but next time I'd love to stop and hike or even camp there. Great photos!

Ahhh! These are gorgeous photos! We recently moved from the Monterey area (my husband was at DLI!), and are temporarily living in AZ (all desert!), and I miss the ocean something fierce! We LOVED driving down Hwy 1 to Big Sur, and seeing the views!

That is definitely a change…! I hope you guys like it there – I've only driven through AZ but I remember it being beautiful in it's own way. Thanks, Kaylee!
