Our Vivacious One Year Old

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

I think I've said and wrote this before, but this is my favorite age.  Our little boy has changed so much since his first birthday four months ago and I love writing things down because my brain forgets too quickly. I really don't want to forget anything about this energetic, joyful, tender, adventurous, darling boy!

Some John Shea Things :)

He is always trying to get outside, be barefoot, hop in our raised garden (ugh) to pull out my flowers and eat cucumbers, drive his car, run in the grass, help Daddy work in the yard, climb up into Daddy's tool shed and play with the most dangerous things he can find. He adores Curious George and laughs and gets excited every single time he sees us hitting Netflix because he knows exactly what's coming. You never know what's round the bend, a big adventure or a brand new friend, when you're currrriousss like currrious gggeewarge. Swing! Theme song in our house! He's been waking up during the night either from nightmares? (his pediatrician said to expect this?) or teething.. or your guess is as good as ours. Bath time is still his favorite time. It's a challenge to get him to eat most days (why would he sit down and eat when he could be running around?!) and other days he eats far more than we do. Italian pasta, the richer and creamier the better, is his favorite right now. We get asked fairly regularly if he's a good traveler since Cam and I have taken him on so many trips since he was born and the answer every time is, "ha ha no." Hopefully one day. A Mom can dream. He still stops at the most unexpected times to give me a big kiss, yells "DADDA" as loud as he can every time Cam leaves the room and follows him with arms in the air, and is the most happy, busy little person I've ever seen. He still ADORES his stuffed animals and sleeps with the whole clan in his crib. He is so much energy, so much fun, so sweet and attentive and observant, and I can't get over how much I love this stage.

Also, he still won't say Mama :(  He says "see ya!" and "Daisy" (his lifesize German Shepherd stuffed animal) but no Mama. I say it hoping he'll repeat after me, but instead, he chuckles and says "Dadda!" Atleast he has a good sense of humor.

  2. I love when they start bringing toys into bed with them. The other day I found duplos, a tiara and plastic zoo animals (in addition to her 2 foot tall Minnie Mouse) in my daughter's bed. John Shea is just adorable!!

    1. That is PRECIOUS. Don't you feel like you could fill up an entire baby book each week writing down funny things they do?! I'm going to miss this stage a lot!

  7. I've followed along for quite sometime after finding your blog in between pinning things on my Pinterest Travel board, and I just have to say, he has become so unbelievably adorable! I know I don't know you well personally, but best of luck in Croatia, with a new baby, and your sweet little one! And thank you for posting and sharing such inspiring, beautiful moments from your life.
