Going to the market is not only where I buy all of our produce and find inspiration for new recipes, but it’s also become one of the best cultural experiences living in Zagreb. You wouldn’t think that talking politics, history and culture (Croatian and American) while picking out heads of lettuce or pretty flowers would be the norm, but it’s become just that! It’s a good challenge each time to better understand our Croatian neighbors, friends and grocers who usually have a worldview completely different from my own. It’s also reinforcing what I believe more than ever. Our markets here are especially lovely during Spring and Summer – I hope you enjoy a few photos from this beautiful time of year!
