Asia Life Okinawa

10,000 Eisa Dancers

Something we learned immediately here is that Japan is a country of festivals {matsuri}
and Okinawa ~ oftentimes seeming like a different country altogether from it’s motherland ~
has countless year-round festivals of it’s own.
This one is a week long that culminates with 10,000 traditional eisa dancers ~
 a dance passed down to pay respect to ancestors each summer by marching through their neighborhoods while playing {taiko} drums.
It was awesome to see…and to hear.

{he blends in really well}
{the children here are so ridiculously cute I can’t stand it!}
{he looks better in my sunglasses than I do}

    your "he blends in really well" comment made me LAUGH outloud at my desk. And LOVE the pic of you grinning from ear to ear — is that because you didn't have to wrangle BERT for sound today? 🙂

    Have you ever felt an insight of dismal wistfulness about proceeding onward from adolescence? Have you ever subtly wished your Christmas stocking could be brimming with toys again? http://www.mordocrosswords.com/2016/02/grin-from-ear-to-ear.html
