36 Weeks on the Yomitan Bluffs

We got to see our baby today !
Because of deployment, Cam hasn’t been able to see an ultrasound since our very first appointment when I was 12 weeks, so today was the perfect early birthday present for him. 
I’m never quite sure what body part we’re looking at, but hearing that beautiful, strong heartbeat and knowing he’s growing as he should makes my heart so happy. Right away our doc said, wow, he has chubby cheeks! Mine?
It’s still utterly surreal that we’re getting close to meeting our son. To be honest, I’m nervous for birth, and even wake up some nights anxious about it, but at the very same time, have the most joyful excitement and anticipation.  We can’t wait to finally see him, hold him, love him and kiss those chubby cheeks. 
We are so thankful for how faithful the Lord is and has been to us throughout this pregnancy; His extravagant grace.

    Awww… SO pretty sweet friend! AND as I read the time frame- I got all excited for you friend as time is getting closer!! I can't imagine how nerve-wracking it must be to think about giving birth. I am praying that the Lord gives you peace in these days and weeks ahead. May our precious Lord guide you and keep you friend as you are about to meet your precious son!!

    you look beautiful amanda! i cannot believe you are about to meet him, makes my heart so happy for you! as far as giving birth, don't be too nervous. everyone's experience is different, and while i had a fairly easy delivery, my recovery wasn't the easiest. when i was pregnant, i just tried to surround myself with the positive birth stories and remained hopeful. britt from life of charmings recommended the book: ina may's guide to childbirth- it's a fairly calm approach to giving birth and it really made me feel so much calmer about it all. sending prayers your way! so excited for you and Cam!

      Thank you so much, Britt. That's wonderful to hear. One of my close friends here gave me that book, too – love it! We've also been reading Husband Coached Childbirth which has helped calm my nerves a lot. Thank you so very much for the prayers. I love seeing updates of your little princess!

    That first picture is stunning! I, too, wake up at night thinking about what it will be like. Being in the medical profession (and having seen so many births) – makes me somewhat more nervous! I try to surround myself with positive people and vibes. I am so excited for you to meet your little one with Cam.

      Lynzy, you are amazing, thank you! You're going to do great. It's been reassuring watching other women go through it and do just fine. Before we know it, we'll be holding our little babes! Can't wait for that!

      Hahaha, ohhh how I love you Lanneybear. I wish you could be shouting quotes at me here in person while I labor. Atleast I could laugh through the pain! Miss you so much… thank you soooooooo for praying for us! Love you!!

    Stunning Amanda! I love to hear that everyone is healthy and happy 🙂 and I have to say when I think about gettting pregnant, the thing that worries the most is giving birth. I always wonder how soon to be moms feel about that as well! Thanks for your honesty and the beautiful photos.

      Thank you, Rachel. I never thought about it much but have thought about it A LOT in the third tri (;

      Cam got me the watch for Christmas — he found it on amazon. It's an Invicta Angel.

    we just had our first baby in may-she's almost 3 months old! i wanted to tell you that i was deathly afraid of childbirth. not kidding. so nervous. everyone knew i was a bit freaked out 🙂 but let me tell you it was the best experience of my life. yes, everyone says it. but when i was in it i loved it. get the epidural. that's my advice! i still felt everything-even the pain! but it was amazing. my husband and i were laughing off and on during the pushing. i'm so excited for you and your husband!
