A Short Getaway in the Colorado Mountains

Just before we left Colorado, John Shea stayed with his Grandparents so Cam and I could head up to the mountains for a quick getaway and our first night away from our baby love. We stayed in this incredible bed and breakfast outside of Estes Park, which felt more like a remote, very small resort that happens to serve a gourmet breakfast. We stayed in the Horizon room and our jaws dropped when we walked in. There was a double-sided fireplace, footed bathtub infront of it, a waterfall, rain shower, tall ceilings, an outdoor hot tub on the balcony overlooking the gorgeous mountains, a sitting area, ipod dock, the softest robes… and breakfast was delicious and served in bed. It was very quiet both at the chateau and in the town since it is off-season, which also afforded us the off-season price. There was also a private movie theater in the basement that you could rent out. Elk roam all throughout Estes Park and we woke up in the morning to wild turkeys outside our window. It was a revitalizing and romantic little getaway. We didn’t even realize how much we needed it and also remembered what it feels like to sleep a full night. Thank you, Nana and Grandpa Marshall!

Our daughter, Elizabeth (Ty's sister) got married at Della Terra last year. We had pictures with Elk, Mountain goats and turkeys! Oh and a blizzard–the pictures were amazing. Sorry I missed you guys when you were here. Gail Davies
