An Olive Farm in Tuscany

Breakfast with cappuccinos, homemade cakes, focaccia and jams, local cheeses, honey, yogurts, prosciutto, eggs, and of course olive oil. Everything either came from the property or from surrounding farms in Tuscany, with fresh picked rosemary and flowers on the table, too.

Can you tell from these photos how peaceful Villa di Campolungo is? We whole heartedly want to go back and would recommend it to anyone traveling in Tuscany. It’s only ten minutes outside of Florence, but totally quiet and serene, in rolling hills covered in olive trees, winding gravel roads and within a long, steep bike ride to the little town of Fiesole. All four of us loved staying here!! John Shea had the time of his life exploring and running through the olive trees, jumping in puddles with Lila, the German Shepherd, and driving the tractor. He was outside from sun up to sun down and passed out totally exhausted both nights on Cam. We brought home some of Silvia’s amazing olive oil and the best smelling rose soaps made on the farm. I went both nights into the neighboring town to the grocery store (Italian grocery stores are gems!) for cheap dinners of prosciutto, different types of pecorino, fresh bread, apples, rotisserie chicken, wine and biscotti. These were sweet days,  just the kind you’d imagine in beautiful Tuscany.

    Hey Amanda! I love reading about your adventures. My husband and I have talked about Italy for a while and are getting closer to planning a trip! I LOVE this sweet farm. Question – how do you handle transportation to and from town? We have a 6-month old so traveling with a child is something we haven't quite tackled yet. I was wondering if from this farm you biked into town? Took a car? Any help would be great! Thank you!

      Also, I'd love it if you could do a post about essentials to bring when traveling with children. Stroller, car seat etc. My husband recently asked, "What if you need to take a cab but we have the baby and no car seat?" I wouldn't know where to begin when traveling with a little one!

      Laken,
      I apologize for only seeing your comment now! We had our car with us and it was very easy getting to and from town from the olive farm. Grace was around 8 months while we were there, John Shea 2, and they did great. Yes, we biked into town from the farm, using the electric bikes the b&b provided to get us up the steep hills!
