Off Season on the Adriatic in Opatija, Croatia

The first time we went to Opatija was during high season in August, and it was packed; we literally could not find a free spot on any of the beaches or a parking spot. Not ideal with a newborn and toddler anxious to get out of the car! Butternut Squash and Potato Soup

I love making soup. I love that if you double this recipe, it gets even more delicious and satisfying the next day. It's really cold here right now so Sundays have been the day to quickly prepare this before heading out the door to walk around the old city, and then we have dinner waiting to warm us up when we get home. Celebrating Advent with Children

I started jotting down some ideas early this year because Christmastime always comes and goes faster than I can get my head around, especially as a tired mom to little kids! I really want to be intentional about teaching our kids why we bake Christmas cookies, go caroling (do you still do that?
