croatia Life

Dubrovnik, Croatia

The views from Sveti Jakov Beach. The beach itself is stunning, in a quiet area down a staircase from Sveti Jakov Church, but part of the beauty of this beach is the walk getting there. Dubrovnik’s coastline is steep and carves in and out of the clear greens and blues of the Adriatic. Every which way are narrow stairways leading to colorful doors and stone villas, huge, overgrown fig trees, cypress and pine trees, bougainvillea, wild sage… and then there’s the sea breeze that smells of rosemary, citrus and jasmine. I could not get enough, and especially when our babies went for a swim with us.

Everyone who was in the main square stopped what they were doing to say hi to the precious baby girl with unbelievable thighs climbing the cathedral steps.

There were just two things I had my heart set on us doing as a family while in Dubrovnik: swim at Sveti Jakov, which is how we happily spent the first morning! And walk the city walls, which is coming in another post…

Thanks, Caroline!! Did you like Banje when you were there last? It was beautiful to look at but we really liked Sveti Jakov!
