Farmhouse Progress: To Stain or Paint the Girls’ Wood Floors?

The wide plank wood flooring is finally acclimated and going down in our little girls’ room! Cam has been working on this in between about a hundred other projects around our house when he’s not at work. He is amazing!

We’ve ruled out a light stain because the lumber is too new. Soo… what do you think? Should we go with a rich stain or paint their wood floor white ?

I’m always in favor of a rich stain, personally ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck! Looking great so far…

Thank you, Cynthia! We’re definitely going to do that in the rest of the house!

I vote painted floors!! In something light and airy- it would make the room feel so dreamy!

I agree!!!! Especially for a little girls’ room! It’s what I want but my practical side keeps reminding me about that time I stupidly bought white dining chairs, haha ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I’d go for a white-washed stain look ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes! I love the idea of white washed – that’s the other option we’ve been throwing around!!

I would love the white floors but hate the upkeep. I think little piggy toes would scuff/dirty them up quickly. I know it will look charming, whichever color you choose, you just can’t beat those wide planks!

Ahhh I know… I have a hard enough time keeping our dark floors downstairs clean ! The wide plank are so, so pretty. They’ve been a ton of work for my husband but he says it’s worth it and I agree!

For the girls, i vote white but yes – do what you need to do so the upkeep doesnโ€™t make you regret it. I canโ€™t wait to see it!

Thanks, Jenna! If we end up painting I think we’d go with a white wash so it’s not as hard to keep clean. But we’ll see….

Whitewash. It will keep the room feeling big and airy, even if there is lots of furniture and little direct sunlight.

Yes, ma’am ๐Ÿ™‚ We made our decision this weekend to do exactly that, yay!!

White wash! And then add a lovely pastel rug to take the wear

I am just now reading this post and my practical side said stain but I knew you would choose painted because it will look just so PRETTY!! So excited to see how the white-washed floors will look — and also selfishly want you to be guinea pig for painted floors with kids because I totally want to do it in my house too!!!!
    It’s gonna be beautiful!!!!

Haaa. I’ll be your guinea pig!!!! We’re hoping that the white wash won’t be as hard to upkeep as straight paint would… we shall see. Love you Lanney!
