Japan Life

Good Morning from Tokyo

 Mt Fuji from the C17
Last night I got lost trying to find where I was meeting the taxi driver outside the air force base, and just as I began to get frustrated, I saw a petite man dressed in head-to-toe white waving at me yelling, “amanda-san!!”
He was the sweetest taxi driver with the most impressive cab.
The entire interior was perfect white lace (?!) and utterly spotless – including the man himself with white gloves and a pressed white taxi uniform.
Between his broken English and my broken Japanese, I learned that he cried with us on 9/11, refused to call my husband anything other than “mr amanda-san” — said with giggles, and that he really likes “Jack Daniel.” Hysterical.
When I opened my door once arriving, he scolded me, made me get back in and giggling opened the door, bowed and took my hand. What a totally refreshing and sweet experience.
All that to say I made it to Tokyo and we live in a very special country indeed.
I will post when I can up here! Until then, you can check out CRASH here .. since these wonderful people are who I’ll be serving with for the next two weeks!
Love you all.   Most especially you, Cam.
