Garlic Life Verdura

Honey, I Made Hoomas

    I don’t know that I’ll ever buy hummus again now that I’ve learned how to make it.
    It is so incredibly easy, saves money and even tastes better homemade.
    We’re kind of on a hoo-mas {not sure why I say it like that??} kick right now.
    So far I’ve made it every day this week and we’ve devoured it.
    This is all you need for simple, garlic hummus.
    Pour a can of chickpeas with about half of the liquid into a food processor or a blender.
    Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of Tahini, 3-10 garlic cloves {as a garlic fiend I lean toward 10}
    Squeeze in half a lemon or more if you like, a pinch or two of salt, and about 2-3 tablespoons
    of olive oil.
    Sometimes, as in always, I add much more than that… {also an olive oil fiend}
    Blend until smooth.
    Serve with yummy bread or pita and Mediterranean vino of course. Enjoy! (:

    that looks delicious! I love hummus and have always wanted to try and make it myself.
    The only ingredient I'm not familiar with is Tahini – but it may be that I've never looked for it before. I'm sure I could find it at Whole Foods, they have everything!

    Homemade hoomas is GREAT! I've made it twice in the last couple of months – the first time with great success the second was a crash and burn. We threw the whole batch away just because the measurements were off and it just tasted AWFUL. I'll give it another shot with this recipe. Planning on soaking up sun tomorrow and wish you were here to join me! love, lanneybear

    Yum, yum, yum. My grandparents raised their kids in the Middle East so I grew up eating homemade HO-MUUS (that's what my Grandma calls it). I actually used to hate it as a kid, but now I love it.

    Thanks for the recipe. I might have to try it. The one I have calls for about 3 times as much tahini which can get expensive.

    XO,
    Catherine
