North Carolina Farmhouse

How Our Family Built a Homestead on a Few Acres: The Beginning

We spent our last three years in the Marine Corps out on the coast, on 2.5 acres. We bought it site-unseen after watching the videos our realtor sent us. Before we even saw inside the house, we heard a neighborhood rooster crow and we both looked at each other and said, “Yep. This is the one!” We then spent every free moment we could find using animals to clear the dense forest, build up our garden, fill our pantry and freezers with homegrown meat and produce, renovate our home from a newly constructed builder-grade into something more special, and learn all kinds of farming lessons right beside our children.

This is the first video I made of our time there, with six more episodes to come, following the seasons… I hope you enjoy them!
