Life

I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.

{October quote from Anne of Green Gables}

September came and went soo fast! No, we don’t have Fall out here in the subtropics, but October & November are our favorite months as the heat subsides. Once my body heals, I’m excited to take our babe for early morning runs and walks in his stroller when the weather is cool.

September over means our John Shea is already over three weeks old! Time is going by in a blink of an eye. Must be in part from that sleepless daze we’re in… we’re learning more and more about our little love every day as his personality and quirks come out. He has his daddy’s firecracker temper, has a half smile {we call it the Harrison Ford smile} in his sleep that is to die for and his full-facial smile makes us melt. I cannot wait for when he actually smiles at us and we get to hear his laugh.

The biggest adjustment for me so far as a new mama is the amount of time spent nursing and the soreness with it. He is on his three week growth spurt and can not get enough. Baby John rules my day! My heart is so thankful though seeing him full and happy and working on a third chin.  I am behind on emails {please forgive me! thank you so, so much to everyone who wrote us such sweet congratulations!}, the dishes, laundry… what on earth am I making for dinner?!… but I understand now that that can all wait. He’s only going to be our little newborn baby this once. He is so amazing and precious it’s hard to look away at all. We are SO in love with him! Our gift.

    Oh, Amanda!
    How wonderful that you get to enjoy little John Shea so much and have already discovered so many beautiful things about him. Can you imagine what it will be like in one month? A year? Two years? I bet that prospect is exciting and overwhelming at the same time!
    Much love to you and your family.

    I'm so glad you are able to breastfeed. One of the most rewarding and special parts of mommyhood that I experience, and didn't expect to love so much. After the soreness subsided though. Hang in there momma!

    You look stunning…you're doing amazing! Our second little baby (a boy!) was born 10 days ago and I will tell you a trick from the first time for the poor chest…bacitracin. It is apparently harmless to the baby but really helps out the delicate areas ๐Ÿ™‚

    I vaguely remember those days and it was less than a year ago! He'll be nursing quickly and less often before you know it! You'd never know that you were sleep deprived from the pictures…you're glowing with happiness!
