John Shea Life

John Shea Does

He puts his hands over his face all the time, laughing. He thinks that when he can’t see us, we can’t see him. He was CRACKING UP under this box.

About 100 times during the day: suddenly notices Gracie, drops his toys, runs over to her and gives her a kiss on the head.

When he wakes up: bolts down the hallway from his room, arms wide open to be hugged, huge smile on his face. Sees his sissy and runs to her for a hug and pat on the head. They both squeal when they see each other every morning, like it’s been ages since the last time they were together.

He still likes to sit next to me in the rocker while I’m putting Grace to sleep at night, but now he rubs my back (just how we rub his to comfort him) and runs his hands through my hair !

While in Rome… One afternoon when all of the little kids were playing, he played with them for about two minutes and then got back to work: moving wood from the pile to the wheel barrow, pushing the wheel barrow, playing with the rake and going to say hi to the horse.

Every time we turned our backs in Tuscany, he sprinted to the tractor, climbed up on it, and tried his hardest to start the engine (he got really close a couple times). He had carefully watched earlier when one of the guys started it for him and made a mental note of where the keys were kept.

When Gracie makes any noise during her nap, he stops what he’s doing, runs to tell me, I tell him it’s ok and to let her go back to sleep, he totally ignores me and sprints upstairs as fast as he can and hops in her crib. I usually find her giggling while he’s patting her head.

As soon as he sees Daddy grab a bottle of wine, he excitedly runs to the kitchen and brings him the corkscrew. Then wants to put his nose near the wine glass to smell it. We ask him if it’s a good one and he laughs and says yeah!

We tried out a new baby monitor while we were in Slovenia and had it on the nightstand. While we were watching him on it from the living room, he got out of bed, picked it up and stared straight into it for a solid five minutes like the Blair Witch Project. We could not stop laughing.

This is a hilarious and gorgeous snapshot of your little boy. Great job writing it all down, I often forget and have to force myself to remember that they won't stay little forever and their silly quirks will disappear. My now four year old has started saying spaghetti correctly and my mama heart about broke.
