John Shea’s Baptism in the East China Sea

Cam and I are totally overjoyed.. This weekend our little boy was baptized!!
My Dad baptized me when I was a little girl so it was incredibly special to watch him baptize our precious son.
It rained the whole time but could not have been a more beautiful and momentous event.
 Dad: “In Luke 18, Christ says, Let the little children come to Me. The kingdom belongs to such as these.’ Our Lord says, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.’ In baptism therefore, the Lord places His name on us in order to give us everything we need in this life and the one to come. These gifts are the remission of sin (past, present, future), eternal life, entrance to His kingdom and salvation. In the last chapter of Mark our Lord promises, ‘Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.’
John Shea Marshall, I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

{I’m about to cry all over again just posting these photos … our baby’s baptized!!}
“Let us pray. The almighty God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has given you the new birth of water and of the Spirit and has forgiven you all your sins, strengthen you with His grace to life everlasting.”
“John Shea Marshall, receive the sign of the holy cross both upon your forehead and upon your heart to mark and seal you as one redeemed by Christ crucified.”
“Almighty and most merciful God and Father, we thank and praise You that You graciously preserve and enlarge Your family and have granted John Shea Marshall the new birth in Holy Baptism and made him a member of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, and an heir of Your heavenly kingdom. We humbly implore You that, as he has now become Your child Your would keep him in baptismal grace, that according to Your good pleasure he may faithfully grow to lead a godly life to the praise and honor of Your holy name and finally, with all Your saints, obtain the promised inheritance in heaven; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.”
These amazing friends threw us our baby shower, visited and brought us meals while we were in the NICU and again when we got home, celebrated our babe’s baptism with us and could not be more supportive or fun to be around. Love you! We’re so thankful for you guys {and for the Harding, Arnold & Cooper babies in utero}.
