Life

Mount Yonaha, Okinawa

On Sunday, we went for a family hike on Mount Yonaha, the tallest point on Oki, about two hours North. It was really more of a three hour walk than a hike, but an extraordinarily beautiful one, and John’s first! Shimmying under and over thick vines and tree trunks on the trail wasn’t exactly ideal for my 6’7 husband with a baby strapped to his chest, so let’s just say 5’4 me had a much easier, and less sweaty time, than others on this trip. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Apart from a few groups of Japanese hikers on the trail, chirping birds, and the wind through the bamboo trees, it was so quiet. Very, very peaceful. We admired God’s astounding creativity in the jungle. Our baby slept most of the way, had a meltdown at the top, and then looked like he was in complete and utter awe when he finally started taking in his beautiful surroundings.

precious! I'm pretty impressed you guys took baby on a hike. I would have been worried that one false step and Timmybear would go down with baby! But then again we're not exactly proficient hikers…

I see those baby blues! Also, it's so weird – ever since I started reading this blog, I've met/heard of a lot more people from Okinawa, when I've never even heard of the place before. Funny how things like that happen!
