My Cameron-Made Kitchen Island

Inbetween all the other projects he’s been working on for the arrival of our babe, my amazing husband also built this beautiful island for our teeny kitchen! I’m in love with it.
He built it out of reclaimed wood, included a wine rack {but of course!!}, a bottom shelf for dishes and mason jars of homemade granola, a butcher block top that I can cut on, built-in wheels to easily move around, and two pull-out shelves to either eat on or use as extra space to chop. Since the majority of our house is soft neutrals, we painted it in bright cobalt blue, a color found all over the island.
I would call ‘Interior Decoration’ anything we do with the place where we are living for any length of time at all. Here, wherever it is, is your spot. This place should be expressing something of yourself. It should be communicating something of you to your visitors, but it should also satisfy something within you. You should feel ‘at home’ here, because you have made it home with something of yourself.

He's such a handyman – I'm impressed by his woodworking skills. ๐Ÿ™‚ Did he carve the crescent-shapes in the wood for the wine rack himself? I'm intrigued – I know nothing about building stuff.

It is great – I love the colors you chose, and I love the handle on the pull-out shelf.

Um, that is unreal. I so wish that my husband or I had that talent! At our last house, we needed more counter space so badly, but didn't want to buy one of the expensive ones because it was only a temporary rental. I mean I would buy that island.
