Our Friends Did Something

Our friends the Boyers did something totally admirable in our book.

They up and bought an old sailboat sans any experience but with every intent to learn how to sail!
They got such a good deal on it that they couldn’t pass up the opportunity. It’s older than the four of us combined {I’m exaggerating.. kind of} so it needs some work and a lot of love,
but they thought, “why not!?”  They could learn.
And thanks to their free instructor {Cam!} they really are.
He learned on the Chesapeake at the Naval Academy & taught us all the basics of sailing yesterday on the day off work.  In our 5 years together, I’ve never actually seen him working a sailboat. He was amazing!  So fun to find a talent of  your husband’s that you’ve never seen before.  It was a beautiful day, the four of us were having a great time out on the water, the Boyers were beyond thrilled by how their Felicity was sailing and then …  BAM.  The boat showed it’s age.
As we were getting strong wind back into the harbor, there went the rudder. The very thing that would steer us back in literally broke right off..  with us headed straight into some very expensive looking yachts.
I’m sure our faces were absolutely priceless in those next moments.
Thankfully Cam hit us into the dock instead of million dollar boats.
We can only imagine the misadventures and good times ahead.
We’re super excited for you, Boyers!

Oh no! Good thing sailor Cam was aboard. That would have been terrifying. But I really want a sail boat and trust that you'll lend Cam to teach?

I love your photos, so beautiful as always. That's great that your friends got a boat and are learning to sail, and of course, lucky that Cam was there to save the day.

Aww our men are both sailors lol
Mine learned and raced in the coast guard academy. Even before he went there his parents dragged him onto a sailboat for almost 2 years and sailed from Cali to dc.
However, I have never sailed with him. I get motion sick so easily :-/ but it looks like an adventure! Love the pics!

It's fine. I'm totally not upset that you are essentially cheating on the Lanna Bear. HOWEVER, since a sail boat is not the same as a pontoon boat – I think Lanna Bear will understand and forgive you… ๐Ÿ™‚ Plus the long distance relationship was pretty hard to keep up anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚ MISS YOU!! ~lanneybear

How amazing and perfectly impractical…it is just so so great they did that. I wish I could some day be married to a guy who just "does" things. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Congrats on the new boat!

Have they christened it with some champagne yet!?
