Life Okinawa

Sunday Afternoon on Okinawa

John Shea and I have missed our Cam over the past weekends and long nights while he’s been working, but yesterday we walked down to the beach and got to spend the entire beautiful, warm day together. We are soaking up these Okinawan days while we can! Cannot believe how fast they are coming to an end.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Great pictures! Since you are spending your days in a very sunny environment, I am curious what you guys do about keeping his precious skin protected. Do you use sunblock? I am taking my almost 6 month old to visit my parents in Florida and I was told by her doctor to not use sunblock prior to 6 months (and I'm thinking, is 2 weeks less than 6 months really going to make a difference?). Do you just keep him shaded all the time? If you use sunblock, do you use a certain brand? I have some California Baby that seems to be free of most things harmful, etc., and SPF 50 or 80 or something crazy. I just can't imagine being able to keep her out of the sun entirely. Thanks for your input!

Hi Susie! Yes, when we go to the beach I put sunblock on him – I use Honest Company. No, I definitely don't keep him out of the sunshine – he LOVES being outside! I just keep a sunhat on him and try to keep in the shade as much as possible. Oh, and I broke the rules and put sunscreen on him well before 6mo… the sun is so strong here it was that or let him get burnt!
      Have fun in Florida! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the response. I'm happy to get a "real life" opinion on it and glad to hear he handled it okay. It makes me feel better about letting her get some sun!
