north carolina small farms

Tuesday Morning on a Sheep Farm

I gave our babies a day off from house hunting today. They’ve been such troopers looking at houses with me! We’ve come close to making an offer a couple times now, without any working out… yet. I know the Lord has a home for us! Hopefully soon we’ll find it and I’ll of course share it here. Anyways, we switched gears today and spent the morning with Mr. Dale at Whispering Dove Ranch. He has a flock of sheep and a lambie named Sweetie (that’s him above being bottle fed!) and too many chickens and roosters to count.

His farm is in Southwestern Jacksonville, out off Dawson Cabin Road for anyone local reading this. The moment we got there we felt how peaceful it is. Dale built his farmhouse and all of his barns after retiring from the military. He was kind enough to show us around his farm and introduce the kiddos to all of the animals. We bought eggs this time but he also sells lamb meat from his beautiful flock and a variety of goat cheeses. I’m trying to find as many working farms around here that I can — if you live in the area, this is definitely a lovely one to visit!

… we ended the day here : )
